In this section, we give a brief overview of these phases. The initial interactions between a client and a practitioner or an agency constitute the intake phase. During this phase, a client typically completes an intake form, which requests general i(cid:374)for(cid:373)atio(cid:374): the (cid:272)lie(cid:374)t"s (cid:374)a(cid:373)e, address, date of (cid:271)irth, (cid:373)arital status, a(cid:374)d so forth. One function of the screening phase is to determine whether a particular agency, behavior therapist, or applied behavior analyst is appropriate to deal with a potential (cid:272)lie(cid:374)t"s (cid:271)eha(cid:448)ior.
