Document Summary

Case study-> community in mexico at arizona border-> uses token reinforcers to promote behavioural codes for things like performing work needed for community to function. Founded by juan robinson-> influenced by ki(cid:374)(cid:374)e(cid:396)"s (cid:271)ook, walde(cid:374) t(cid:449)o. Using token as reinforcers-> advantages over other rewards as reinforcers: Can be given immediately after desired behaviour-> so no delay in getting rewards. Can be applied more easily than other types of rewards w/groups of individuals. Can be exchanged for diff back-up reinforcers-> so value of them= likely to remain high. Token economy: method using complex set of consequences w/tokens as reinforcers to modify wide range of behaviours in groups of individuals. Token economy & token system-> used interchangeably but there are diff. Try to change behaviour of groups of individuals, vs just one person. Attempt to change wide ranges of target behaviours. Use complex systems of consequences for those behaviours. But there are no definite criteria to define token economies.
