Eating disorder not otherwise specified [ednos]: eating disorder diagnosis characterized by heterogeneous symptoms and associated features that don"t fit the symptoms of other eating disorders. Night eating syndrome: habitual tendency to wake up and eat in middle of night leading to substantial personal distress. Purging disorder: form of bulimia with self-induced vomiting or laxative use at least once a week for minimum of 6 months. Anorexia nervosa: disorder where a person refuses to eat or to retain any food or suffers a prolonged and severe diminution of appetite. Person has intense fear of becoming obese and feels fat when emaciated. Person refuses to maintain normal body weight and weighs less than 85% of what is considered normal for that person"s age and weight. Weight loss thru diet, purging, and excessive exercise. Intense fear of gaining weight, fear isn"t reduced by weight loss. They maintain that even when emaciated, they are over-weight or certain part of their body is too fat.
