Self conscious emotions: emotions such as embarrassment, empathy, envy that depend on self awareness. Self awareness: realization that ones existence and functioning are separate from others. Altruistic behaviour: activity intended to help another person with no expectation of reward. Temperament: characteristic disposition or style of approaching and reacting to situations. Easy children: children with happy temperament, reg. biological rhythms and readiness to accept new experiences. Difficult children: children with irritable temperament, irregular bio rhythms, and intense emotional responses. Slow to warm up children: children whose temperament is generally mild but who are hesitant about accepting new experiences. Goodness of fit: appropriateness of environmental demands and constraints to a child"s temperament. Basic trust vs basic mistrust: erikson"s first stage in psychosocial development, in which infants develop a sense of reliability of ppl and objects. Attachment: reciprocal, enduring tie b/w two ppl, especially b/w infant and caregiver - each of whom contributes to the quality of the relationship.
