Chapter 7: psychosocial development, birth to age 3. She cried vigorously at diaper changes/if she was cold or hungry, and once she got older, she strongly protested being held by anyone but her mother. At 3 years of age, although she was frightened 1st day she was dropped off at preschool, trust she felt in her parents led her to expect other people to be good to her too, & she was able to haltingly establish new relationships with other children. All of these related developments occurring during fundamental 1st 3 years of life can be viewed as existing under umbrella of psychosocial development. He cried little, slept on relatively consistent schedule, & spent much of his time calmly watching world with his large brown eyes. Friends & family commented on his ease, asking his parents how they managed to mould his behavior in this way. He just seemed to be born like that.
