Document Summary
Hypothesis- a statement that makes an asserion about what is true in a paricular situaion; oten, a statement assering that two or more variables are related to one another. Once hypothesis is proposed, data must be gathered and evaluated in terms if evidence is consistent or inconsistent research quesion. Note: results of study are consistent with a predicion, the hypothesis is only supported not proven. Researchers oten study same hypothesis using variety of methods and each ime this hypothesis is supported by research study, we become more conident that hypothesis relects the truth. 5 sources: common assumpions, observaion of the world around us, pracical problems, theories and past research. We can test common assumpions that people make to explain the world. For example do opposite atract or bird of the same feather lock together? . Not all noions tend to be correct: people tend to be atracted to others similar to themselves .
