Personality: a characterisic patern of thinking, feeling, and behaving that is unique to each individual, and remains relaively consistent over ime and situaions. Idiographic approach: focusing on creaing detailed descripions of a speciic person"s unique personality characterisics. Nomotheic approach: examine personality in large groups of people, with the aim of making generalizaions about personality structure. Personality trait: a person"s habitual paterns of thinking feeling and behaving. Factor analysis: is used to group items that people respond to similarly. Five factor model: a trait-based theory of personality based on the inding that personality can be described using ive major dimensions. Hexaco model of personality: a six-factor of the ffm and adds one addiional factor: honesty- The dark triad: refers to three traits- machiavellianism, psychopathy, and narcism- that describe a person who is socially destrucive, aggressive, dishonest and likely to commit harm in general. Machiavellianism-tendency to use people to be manipulaive and deceiful. Psychopathy- is general tendency toward having shallow emoional responses.
