Document Summary

Sigmund freud: pioneer in study of personality and the treatment of psychological disorders. He"s trained as a neurologist not a psychologist. After leaving scientific career for physician, freud accepted clients and he discovered that emotional struggles couldn"t be understood at the physiological level. He then tries to understand his patient"s" personality. Overtime his observations and ideas coalesced into psychodynamic theory involves family of different theories and ideas that share many key features. Everything we think, feel, and do results from psychological dynamics that are so deeply buried in our unconscious that we have no direct access to them; our mind is a black box. Your current awareness, containing everything you are aware of right now. Unconscious mind: more vast and powerful but inaccessible part of your consciousness, operating without your conscious endorsement or will to influence and guide your behaviours. E. g. parry being stupid and thinking one thing and saying another thing at the same time.
