Idiographic approach: creates a detailed description of a specific person"s unique personality characteristics. Five factor models: a trait based theory of personality based on the finding that personality can be described using five major dimensions. Narcissism: machiavellianism is a tendency to use people and to be manipulative and deceitful, psychopathy is a tendency to have shallow emotional responses. Infants display their temperamental differences along dimensions: temperament represent an innate biological foundation upon which personality is built. The person ends up forming beliefs about the relationship to the environment beliefs about the actions and the likely consequences: self-efficacy is the belief that one"s attempt to accomplish a specific task will be successful. People with high self-efficacy are more likely to take action. Culture and personality: the basic systems in the human personality are deeper then culture. Although personalities differ the basic machinery of human personality seems universal.
