Document Summary
Intelligence is not something like length or mass, there is no objective standard to which we can compare our measures to see if they are accurate. Different approaches to intelligence testing: intelligence and perception: galton"s anthropometric approach. Galton believed tat because people learn about the world through their senses, those with more superior sensory abilities would be more sensitively attuned to the world and able to learn more about it. Sensory abilities would be an indicator for intelligence. Anthropometrics: referred to as methods of measuring peoples physical and mental variation in humans. The lab attracted many and he measured sensory abilities of a lot of people in england. James mcken cattell took this approach and tested on university students and saw that scores did not correlated with grades, so galton"s approach was abandoned: intelligence and thinking: the stanford binet test. Alfred binet argued that intelligence should be indicated by more complex thinking processes, such as memory, attention and comprehension.
