Genetics has an influence on the brain. Changes in the brain can lead to changes in behavior. Genes: baisc units of heredity; genes are create the process of the proteins that make up our physical structures and development and physiological processes throughout the lifespan. Genes are composed of segments of dna: deoxyribonucleic acid: a molecule formed in a double- helix shape that contains four nucleotides : adenine, cytosine, guanine and thymine (acgt) Genotype: the genetic makeup of an organism- the unique set of genes that comprise that individual"s genetic code: represent code used to create proteins. Genes specify which type of molecules a cell should produce and when to them. Phenotype: the physical traits or behavioural characteristics that show genetic vaition (ex. Eye colour: develops because of differences in the nucleotide sequencing of acgt well as through interactions with the environment. Homozygous: 2 genes at a given location on a pair of chrom.
