Document Summary

Objectivity assumes that certain facts about the world can be observed and tested independently from the individual who describes them (e. g. the scientist) Subjective interpretations mean that the knowledge of the event is shaped by prior beliefs, expectations, experiences, and even their mood. Objective measurements: the measure of an entity or behaviour that, within an allowed margin of error, is consistent across instruments and observers. Variable: the object, concept, or event being measured, anything that can take on multiple values. Are categorical when they are generally in one category (blue eyes, brown eyes, can be in different shades but categorical is general) but it may not be accurate. Age can be categorical (young adult, adolescent, senior) In actuality, whether a variable is categorical or continuous often depends on how it is measured; you can take a continuous variable and make it categorical. Eye colour can be changed to continuous when more specified (light blue, dark brown)
