We have several different types of memory that involves different networks of brain areas. >memory is a collection of several systems that store information in different forms for differing amounts of time. 1. stores- retains information in memory without using it for any specific purpose; they essentially serve the same purpose as hard drives serve for a computer. > the 3 stores are sensory memory, short term memory and long term memory. Control processes- shift information from one memory store to another; they are represented by the arrows in the model. 3. information enters the vision system through hearing and other senses, the control process calls attention selects information will be passed on to stm. Some information but not all from stm goes through encoding- which is the process of storing information in the ltm system (long term memory).
