Epistemology is the part of philosophy that tries to understand concept. Epistemologists try to evaluate the common-sense idea that we have knowledge and that we are oten raionally jusiied in the beliefs we have. Three kinds of knowledge (1) s knows how to ride a bicycle (2) s knows the president of the united states (3) s knows that the rocky mountains are in north america. The object of the verb in (3) is a proposiion which can be either true or false. Proposiional knowledge is neither necessary nor suicient for knowing how to perform some task. The object of the verb in (2) is a person. Statement (2) says that s is related to an object, place, or thing which is an instance of object. You must know some proposiions about that object. You are required some sort of direct acquaintance with the object. This kind of knowledge is some certain abiliies.
