Women, visible minorities, and ppl with disabilities make up over 60% of canada"s labour force and are still growing. As a society we have moved beyond principle to imperative in ensuring equal access to employment opportunities. In a legal sense, it means justice based on the concepts of ethics and fairness and a system of jurisprudence by administered tribunals. The implementation of employment equity has involved establishing policies and practices designed to ensure equitable representation in the workforce and to redress past discriminiations. Women are not paid as much as men. Aboriginal people have a higher unemployment rate than the national unemployment rate. They experience a lot of barriers to entry for employment often compounded by low educational achievement and lack of job experience plus language and cultural barriers.
