Threat is linked to neg, commodity, pathogenic and biomed concepts of health: health is compromised by a threat and it can be restored by preventative treatment and curative interventions. Under pos salutogenic framework, threat is inappropriate: concerned with the creation of health, not the avoidance of disease, illness and disability. Social and community health is relatively neglected in popular discourses of health. If we define the influences on our health as ultimately bio, then the threats will be conceived as factors influencing our bio states. Social model of health considers socio-economic factors views threats more broadly and shaped by the social world we live in. Web of causation visualizes the interconnectedness of factors that influence health and illness. There is a complex group of health determinants: incl environment, behaviour, workplace, inter-relatedness of these factors in how they contribute to the occurrence and spread of disease. Dom contemp discourse for health is one of threats and disease.
