Document Summary

Extra reading #2 health effect: health effect. Acute premature mortality is the measure of immediate risk of short term exposure to air pollution. Chronic premature mortality is the effect of exposure over an extended period of time. Figure 1 shows that the acute death caused by air pollution will peak very high in 23 years. This is because the population is declining immediately as the exposure to the air pollution takes place. The most death is due to cardiovascular conditions and least death is due to respiratory conditions. Figure 2 shows that, the exposure to air pollution has immediate effect on the elderly more than it has on the youngsters. This is due to them already being frail and prone to contract chronic diseases such as dementia and cancer. Children also have increased risk of air pollution in that they haven"t developed the mechanism to protect themselves from such exposure.
