There are four basic principles to remember when conducting a scientific investigation. Scientific method: a systematic approach to answering questions about the natural world. Inductive: when scientists draw general conclusions from specific observations; recognizing patterns and identifying similarities between comparable systems. Deductive: uses a general principle to reach a specific conclusion.
