Simple practices of the sangha in order to relieve the suffering of hungry ghosts, continuous chanting of buddha"s name by the monks on mount hiei, liberating captive animals in order to make merit. Building of the stupas of stone is an act of devotion. Go to the river bank and pile stones in the shape of a stupa. Copies of the heart sutra are gathered. Monks are invited to chant it, worship at alters dedicated to the deity, prayers are offered to the household.
