Psychopathology : field that is concerned with development of the abnormal behaviour, thought, feeling etc. Abnormal behaviour included statistical infrequency, violation of norms, personal distress, disability, dysfunction and unexpectedness. This characteristic are part of a definition but are not part of all diagnosis and does not capture abnormality fully in its own. Statistical infrequency: abnormal behaviour is infrequent in the general population, bell curve some people fall at the either extreme of the bell curve. Disability of dysfunction: disability or impairment in life can occur due to abnormality, example: Substance disorders can cause: social and occupational disorder. Not all disability are due to abnormality or is considered to be a disorder. Unexpectedness: distress and disability is considered to be abnormal when they are unexpectedness response of environmental stressors, example : when the behaviour is unexpected and out of proportion it is considered to be an disorder.
