Social motives: achievement, affiliation, autonomy, nurturance, dominance, exhibitory, order, play. Biological: originally thought stomach contractions caused hunger, hypothalamus. Arcuate nucleus (sensitive to incoming hunger and fullness signals) Neural circuits (regulate hunger: glucose and digestive regulation. Low glucose causes hunger to go up. High glucose causes hunger to go down. Fluctuations in blood glucose levels are monitored where they influence the experience of hunger.
