Enculturation: the process of learning one"s culture through observation, interaction and imitation that is both conscious and unconscious. Shared ideas about what is right or wrong, fair or unfair, just or unjust, kind or cruel or important and unimportant. Valence: the positive or negative nature of a particular value. Intensity: the importance or strength of a value for an individual. Cultural norms: shared expectations of appropriate behaviors, including language usage and communication styles. Race: is a social construct arising from efforts to categorize people into different groups. Anthropologists divided people into groups (e. g. , mongoloid, caucasoid, Negroid), physical appearance (e. g. skin colour, facial features). Ethnicity: refers to cultural factors including nationality, regional culture, ancestry and language. An ethnic group therefore is a group of people of the same descent and heritage who share a common and distinctive culture passed on through generations.
