Communication involves an interrelated, interdependent group of elements working together to achieve a desired outcome or goal . Communication is irreversible, you cannot take back what you have said or done. The messages you communicate now can affect your interpersonal relationships and future interactions. Communication is always developing and never passive and static. Factors such as time, location, topic and circumstances influence the dynamic communication process, rendering it complex and impossible to replicate. Since people are consciously directing their messages to someone else, the communication is transactive. Because both individuals send and receive messages, communication is a two-way process. Meanings are transmitted by way of verbal and nonverbal symbols. Typically, symbols are used by a cultural group have no natural relationship with what they signify, that is, the symbols are arbitrary. A verbal language is a code made up of symbols. By using symbols, people can represent their thoughts and ideas orally or through writing.
