Values are motivational, signal the attractive aspect of the environment= seek and unattractive= avoid. Seek how we behave or not behave. Values are structured around achievements, power conformity, social welfare and tradition. Generations have grown up under different ages and different socialization experiences: traditionalist: shadow of two wars: respectful of authority and high work ethic, baby boomers: vibrant economy: optimistic workaholics, generation x: dual career families and more divorces. Latchkey kids might value less advise of authority figure: cynical, confident and pragmatic. Actual evidence: gen x and gen y are more inclined to value money, status and rapid growth than are boomers. They see work as less central and value leisure more= work life balance.
