GGR111H5 Chapter Notes - Chapter 1: Hectare, The Neighbourhood
Document Summary
On friday, october 17, 2014, the practical group 0106 set out to discover the components of a sustainable city. A sustainable city is encouraged to have living spaces that promote economic, social, and environmental sustainability. Neighbourhoods that reflect a high score in regards to being sustainable have amenities such as; access to public transit, local services, and local parks. A sustainable city and its neighbourhoods are required to promote the healthiness of the environment, and those who live in it. It is important to study sustainable neighbourhoods in order to recognise the pressures which are being placed on social, economic, and environmental systems within a city. The location which was studied was located on featherston crescent, intersecting the crescent was cider mill place and the loft. Methodology (1)the practical group was split into groups of four. (2) the first street which was observed was the loft, observations were made on the eight categories of sustainability.
