Competition when multiple organisms seek the same limited resource. Do not usually fight with one another directly and physically. Competition is subtler and based on which organism are more successful in procuring resources. Can take place among members of the same species, called intraspecific competition. Can take place among members of two or more different species, called interspecific competition. Competitive exclusion when one species is a very effective competitor, and excludes another species from resource use entirely. Species coexistence when neither species are overly competitive and the species may live side by side at a certain ratio of population sizes. Resource partitioning when species share or partition resources but specialize in different ways thereby limiting competition and interaction. Predation process by which individuals from one species, the predator, hunt, capture, kill and consume individuals of another species, the prey. exploitation.
