Competition = multiple organisms seek the same limited resources. Predation = individuals of one species capture, kill, an consume individuals of another species. Parasitism = parasite depends on host for nourishment or other benefit. = antagonistic species become locked in a dual of escalating adaptations. May not kill the plant, but affects its growth and survival. Two ore more species benefit from their interactions. Symbiosis = organisms live in close physical contact. Pollination: bees, bats, birds and other transfer pollen. Chemosynthetic bacteria - use the geotheromal energy in hot springs or deep-sea vents to produce their food. Primary consumers=second trohpic level organisms that consume producers. Secondary consumers =third trophic level organism that prey on primary consumers. Detritivores = scaevenge waste produces or dead bodies. Decomposers = break down leaf litter and other non-living material. Community of organisms resists change and remains stable despite the disturbance.
