Subsistence and survival: small scale societies are divided into three types by early anthropologist making sense of the world he observed, though evolutionary schemes and generalizations about social interaction have been severely challenged, the three types are, hunter gatherers, pastoralists, agriculturalists. Hunter gatherers: these people are described in this way collect food for their immediate environment, and they have been characterized as picking or catching on as much as they can eat at any one time to avoid problems of storage or transportation, nomadic: a term used to describe people who move about in the course of making a living rather then settling in one place, they are also said to have little role specialization, the chief division of labor being made along the lines of age and gender, so that the healthy and capable collect for the very young and the very old and infirm, and, typically, men hunt, while woman gather.
