Women were central to the establishment of sociology primarily during 1890-1920. Their ideas were different from the men within the discipline. Generally, they challenged patriarchy, its ideals and now every classical approach is deemed as something definitive. Jane addams: her biographical location, life & labor at the hull-house: she is recognized as a world leader that has a great mind, charisma and innovative qualities. She was the leader for dozens of women within the field although many were out into other fields after 1920 gaining an education and took a couple of trips to. Europe: the 1890s were quite controversial within the institution where many theorists came together, many who frequented were lecturers and close friends of addams.
