Behaviors during young adulthood such as sex and alcohol use are generally influenced by their attitudes towards marriage. The interaction of behavior during teenage years and young adulthood demonstrates that marriage remains a significant variable of interest for researchers to examine. First, recent research has only assessed one dimension of individual marital attitudes. In other words, there is not much known on how it varies across time and whether or not it has an influence among their relations and overall outcomes. The other issue is that many assume that these attitudes are static in nature. Trajectories of marital attitudes: that being said, research has failed to look at whether or not these attitudes shift throughout the lifecourse. The assumption underlying all of this is the fact that once young person"s internalize their attitude on marriage in relation to their family experiences and values, is that it remains stable.
