The capacity to produce speech depends on the structure and of the functioning of the human vocal tract. Speech is produced when air from the lungs exists the larynx and is. Ltered by the vocal tract above the larynx. Supralaryngeal vocal tract: the vocal tract located above the larynx that is responsible for the production of speech sounds. Our teeth are even and upright which isn"t just for the purpose of eating but also to produce speci c sounds such as (s) and (f). The lips and tongue also have a purpose of rapidly producing different sounds. Our larynx is low compared to other mammals, unfortunately theres a risk of food falling into our trachea which can cause us to choke to death. Where as, other mammals will have their larynx higher and permits them to close off the trachea.
