Equivocal language consists of words, word orders, phrases, expressions that have more than one commonly accepted definition. Teacher asked what a period was and a girl explained women periods but she meant class periods. Difficult to catch and clarify equivocal statements accurately rests large part in the receiver. Ubc = 30,000 kids and may seem small compared to other comparison schools like uot. Relative words, fast, slow, smart, stupid, short can be defined thru comparison. Tendency to view ppl or relationships as unchanging. When describing problems, goals, requests, we choose unclear abstract language or behavioural language that refer specifically to things ppl do or say or language somewhere in between.
