Literature review: examining previous relevant studies on a given topic and critically appraising them. Includes useful articles, and other sources of information that are relevant and appraises them. Without a good review, one risks redoing someone else"s work over again. Hypothesis: a testable prediction about the conditions under which an even will occur. Statement about the expected cause and effect relation between two variables, but more specific than the original question. Usually based on previous observations, done after reading literature. Operational definition: a specific procedure or measure that one uses to test a hypothesis. Good operational definition your measure is valid. Best part: get to see if ideas is supported by data.
