Psycho-evolutionary emotion theory: shows the development and meaning behind emotions. Secondary emotions: developed through socialization and cultural education (ie guilt, different for everyone based on how they were raised, some would feel guilty in a situation and others wouldn"t) Organizing response (based on past experiences for example) Physiological response: heart rate rising, upset stomach, butterflies in stomach, feeling in your throat when you"re about to cry. Nonverbal reactions: blushing, looking away, posture, facial expressions, smiling. Cognitive interpretations: impulse control, happiness, recognition, shyness. Verbal expression: tone of voice, volume of voice, choice of words based on your emotions. Function of emotions: method of interpersonal communication with others. Immersion in a specific culture: creates stronger beliefs. Intensity of emotions: stronger emotions can be more challenging to control than others, some cultures try to control that.
