Document Summary
Anp1105 a dr. joanne savory and dr. m zeroual. Two main circulations: pulmonary (short loop from heart to lungs and back to heart) and systemic circulation (long loop to all parts of body and back to heart provides functional blood supply) Systemic arteries located deep and protected by tissues; blood is pumped into single systemic artery (aorta); pathways are distinct; supply is predictable. Vessels that carry blood from the right ventricle to the lungs, and the vessels that return blood to the right atrium. O2-poor blood goes from right ventricle out the pulmonary trunk which divides to become right and left pulmonary artery; subdivides in to lobar arteries forming arterioles and then dense networks of pulmonary capillaries in the lungs. After gases are exchanged; o2-rich blood drains from venules to from right and left pulmonary veins exiting the lungs which unload the blood into the left atrium of heart. Note: trunk means branches that come together making 1.
