Lo1 - challenges organizations are facing in the 21st century. Before innovation drove the wheels of it, a company focused on operational excellence. Innovation is the introduction of new equipment or methods. The force to innovate comes with the need of cutting costs, while still creating a competitive advantage. Organizations must find their edge to push performance levels. Attract people to the edges to work together on challenging performance issues. Recognize the people who are likely to be attracted to the edge are risk takers. Recognize that the edge fosters not just risk taking, but different cultures that are edgy. Find ways to appropriate insights from adjacent disciplines and even more remote areas of activity. Social responsibility implies that an entity has a responsibility to society. This can be the government, corporations, not-for-profit organizations, or individuals. Corporate policy is a dimension of social responsibility that refers to the position a firm takes on social and political issues.
