Document Summary

Reactants: water, carbon dioxide (incorporate into organic molecules) Carbon fixation carbon dioxide (inorganic carbon) can be incorporated into organic molecules. Mesophyll cells in middle layer of leaf tissue. Stomata small pores found on surface of leaves and let co2 into mesophyll layer and o2 diffuses out. Thylakoids disk-like structures in within chloroplasts, contains chlorophyll that absorb light. Light energy + h2o (source of electrons) atp + nadph o2. Photons in light and electrons in water. 2 water molecules for one molecular oxygen. Chlorophylls absorb this light energy, which is converted into chemical energy through formation of atp and nadph. Water and molecules are converted to o2. Nadph donates electrons to convert co2 into sugars. Atp + nadph + co2 sugar. Uses atp and nadph form light dependent reactions to fix co2 and g3p (glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate) molecules to make glucose. Both cellular respiration and photosynthesis involve redox reactions (involving electron transfers).
