Scientific research allows us to ask questions and provide answers. Understanding research methods is important for everyone as a consumer. It helps us become informed consumers as it"s important to evaluate these reports. With new research and headlines coming out every day, it"s important that we can determine the efficacy of the research and can help us determine which research articles are truly helpful. Furthermore, if we understand research methods, we become informed citizens and can confidently engage in public debates. Research findings can dramatically change the way that decisions are made. For example, people sometimes assume that because two events occurred together at one point in the past, that one event must be the cause of the other.
