Dementia: general term of chronic disorder of mental processes marked by, loss of memory, mental abilities: personality changes & impaired reasoning, encompasses huge range of disorders. Alzheimer"s disease: progressive: starts out w minor symptoms, then deteriorates, symptoms, difficulty remembering names & recent events, apathy & depression: bc of diagnosis & changes in brain, difficulty speaking, walking, swallowing.
