Separation: presense of formal institutions for people labelled people of different groups tend to belong to different institutions. Here is use of er cats for separation, and organization of form and informal interactions. Don"t use same physical space, whether by formal segregational rules or not, Social boundary practices: (wimmer, lecture) institutional use. The use of er cats by formal institutions to enforce categorization of people, not necessarily in a discriminatory manner. Formal institutions that are exclusive to different er cats. An informal method to view different er categories, idea here is that each group has its own access to diffrent areas of life.
