Used to battle stress, fatigue and hunger. Mild stimulant increase endurance in people. Indigenous people continue to chew on coca leaves or brew leaves in teas religion/culture. If cocaine is ingested through mouth, only 1/3 will actually get into bloodstream. Two stimulants: kola nut (caffeine) & coca plant cocaine. 9 mg of cocaine in each 100ml: relieve nervousness, tiredness. Use of cocaine is discontinued in 1903. Now only contain caffeine (active ingredient of kola nut)
