Document Summary
When a social worker is constantly referring to one theory no matter what. Power and politics in social work theory- doesn"t seem necessary. Theory based around what is currently occurring in the country. How people see the world and how they live it. Theories made by white men will become more popular and mainstream because of their status. Analyze theories with the critical eye because of this. Focus on fundamental interactions between people and their social and physical environment - individuals as part of a system. Interventions are looking at your relationship with the systems. Four layers of social systems that should be considered (look at as a target chart): Microsystem: pattern of activities etc experienced by the developing person. Mesosystem: interrelations among systems that individual partakes in (ex school, work) Exosystem: one or more systems that don"t involve the developing person directly actively but could affect them (ex parents work place)
