Police selection in canada is not as populare as it is in the us, yet mnay of the same methods are used in both countries: in canada background checks are involved, medical testing, cognitive tests. The rcmp uses a lot of psychological assessment. Regardless of what type time selection process the police agency adopts, the must go through a selection process. In the police selection process there are two stages: job analysis stage in this stage the agency defines the knowledge, skills and abilities of a (cid:498)good(cid:499) police officers. Problems in the this stage: how reseachers measure the perfromane of police officers. How to measure the performance is very imporent as it as a dirct impact on the results. There is no evidence on whihch mesure is better to use, and even police agnency have nto agreed on what is considered a good performance.
