How the body and brain enable emotions, memories, and sensory experiences. How the natural selection of traits has promoted the survival of genes. How our genes and our environment in uence our individual differences. How behaviour springs from unconscious drives and con icts. How we encode, process, store, and retrieve information. How behaviour and thinking vary across situations and cultures. Rather than seeking to change people to t their environment, work to create social and physical environments that are healthy: psychology deepens our appreciation for how we humans perceive, think, feel and act.
