Personality can be measured by examining the details of our dwellings. Personality: a characterisic patern of thinking, feeling and behaving that is unique to each individual, and remains relaively consistent over ime and situaions. Idiographic approach: focusing on creaing detailed descripions of a speciic person"s unique personality characterisics ex. Nomotheic approach: examine a personality in large groups of people with the aim of making generalizaions about personality structure. Understand factors that predict certain behaviours across people in general. Allows psychologists to examine what types of people are more or less likely to engage in certain behaviours. Personality trait: a person"s habitual paterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving- how that person is most of the ime". Barnum efect-statements that about someone"s personality is very general and most could apply to most people. Factor analysis: used to group items that people respond to similarly ex, friendly, warm and kind can come under the same factor".
