The new english bible - genesis 1-2. The lord god created man in his own image, male and female, to rule over all the living things that move upon the earth which he had just created. Firstly, god formed a man from the dust of the ground and put him in the garden of eden. Next, god decided it was not good for the man to be alone so he provided a partner for him. God then put the man into a trance, took one of his ribs while he slept, closed the esh over the place, and used the rib of the man to build a woman to be his partner. The author makes it clear that there are two genders, male and female, who are supposed to be partners, to have offspring, to ll the earth, and to rule over the living things that move upon it.
