Rosen 52- but now that the rustle of the books pages competes with the flicker of the screens twitching pixel, we must consider the possibility that the book may not be around much longer. Reading books is one of the most non-offensive practices next to breathing and sleeping. Perhaps the association with academic reading is so strong that people have developed a negative connotation to reading. It"s contradictory a society that is so in love with telling stories (in a variety of mediums) could possibly consider replacing the book. Rosen 52- the connected screen will replace the disconnected book. Yes, the hyperlinks embedded in online books connect the reader to the internet and thereby the rest of the world. In my humble opinion, outward connectivity is highly overrated. Of having a solitary moment, alone with their thoughts. The book is not disconnected, the people are.
