107 views3 pages

Document Summary

Perseus is depicted with the head of medusa in one hand (who he killed) and the scimitar given to him by hermes in the other. More like a folk hero then a saga hero. Sometime patriarcle hero because there is more women. Some say he is relaxed hero because he does not struggle between his divine self and human self. Acrisius was his grandfather and king of argos had one child danae. It was foretold that the son of danae would kill acrisius. Tries to prevent this so he shuts danae up in a bronze chamber at the bottom of his palace. Zeus comes to danae as a golden rain. Acrisius didn"t find out until perseus was 4 years old because he was making to much noise. So acrisius put them in a chest and threw them out to sea. An exposure of the child to the sea so that blood is not on his hands.
