Chapter # 20 - the returns and the odyssey: the returns (nostoi) Agamemnon and menelaus have a falling out and left separately. Palamedes was the person who went to fetch odysseys to go to a war because he didn"t want to go to war. Odysseus was pretending to be crazy until they called him out and he had to come. Odysseus bitter and set up a plot to kill palamedes of treachery. (hid gold in his tent and forged a letter and pretended it was from priam and he was branded a traitor and stoned to death. Palamedes" father, nauplius, was outraged at the murder of his son and demanded justice which agamemnon denied. As a result, nauplius swore revenge against the greek leaders. So that when odysseys fleet was coming back and there was a storm nauplius sets up fake fire beacons along the shore so that the ships would dock into rocks: menelaus.
