Education: the social institution through which society provides its members with important knowledge, including basic facts, job skills and cultural norms and values: can be informal to formal education. Schooling: formal instruction under the direction of specially trained teachers. The extent of schooling is tied to economic development, in low income countries families and communities teach young people knowledge, formal schooling that is not necessary to survive it commonly with wealthy people. Schooling in india: recently become a middle income country, still quite poor, most of the children do go to primary school, although its very overcrowded. Patriarchy shapes indian education, if a family has a boy they are in for more wealth, but if they have a girl they have to pay a dowry when that girl gets married to a man. There is less of an interest to put girls through school compared to men, girls end up working in factories.
